The second installment of our ‘From the Bookshelf’ series brings us to a favorite of aficionados of locally-sourced produce and local-centric living.

The Locavore Way (Amy Cotler, 2009)provides information that will be useful both to newcomers to the world of eating locally and to long-time supporters of the movement. Topics include finding locally grown food at farms, farmer’s markets, and retail outlets; recipes and cooking tips; eating locally on a tight budget; and preserving seasonal foods to enjoy year-round.

The author is the founding director of Berkshire Grown, a group that advocates for and directs people towards locally grown produce in Western Massachusetts. She has been published in many newspaper and magazines.

The Locavore Way is available at many branches of the local library system.
