If you enjoy working with children, Stearns Farm would love to have your help with the Children’s Garden this season.

We are looking for people who would like to plan and run a simple and fun activity for children, either in the Children’s Garden or elsewhere on the farm, during sharer work hours on a Saturday morning (10 am -12 pm) or afternoon (2-4 pm).  The activity should be appropriate for children ages 4 and up. Some ideas include: collecting herbs and flowers to make different kinds of tea; creating art from things that grow around the farm; and planting, mulching or harvesting in the Children’s Garden. You can also propose your own idea. This could be a one-time commitment or something you do regularly.

Running a Children’s Garden activity can meet the requirement for 2 hours of your required sharer work hours.

We can schedule a Children’s Garden activity almost any Saturday. You could, for example, plan your activity for one of the upcoming planting days: May 9 (potatoes), May 23 (nightshades – peppers & eggplants), or June 13 (sweet potatoes)

Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Sara Abramovitz at saralarry@verizon.net if you are interested.
