Stearns Farm needs a truck, and money raised in this year’s capital campaign (also known as the annual appeal) will go toward buying a used one as well as covering its maintenance for the first year.

Stearns Farm has never owned a truck, notes James Apostol, who is managing the fundraiser. “In the past, farm managers have used their personal vehicles for farm work, but that is not sustainable either for the farm manager or for the farm.”

Earlier this year, the farm received a $5,000 grant, which will cover half of the expected costs. Because annual share prices cover only the farm’s operating expenses, including farmers’ salaries, seeds, and soil amendments, donations are needed to support capital expenses.

Members can expect to receive annual appeal letters in November with details about the campaign, but there’s no need to wait if you are able to donate. Any amount you can provide will help us reach our $5,000 fundraising goal.
