We’ve updated our mission statement. The mission is the same, but taking this step will help us to communicate our long-standing values consistently and clearly as we pursue grants to further our social and educational goals, says Nomi Sofer, president of the Stearns Farm board of directors.
“The mission statement is an essential component of applying for outside funding to support our mission, such as the funding we received in 2016 to support the expansion of our food donation program,” she says. “And we want to remind everyone that we’re a mission-driven farm that upholds certain values—like paying its farmers a decent wage, which is not the norm in farming overall.”
