There are hundreds (thousands?) of kale smoothie recipes out there, and I think I have tried at least half of them.   When I get a craving for one in the morning, I usually prefer a cleaner, less sweet, non-milky taste (although you can never go wrong tossing a handful of kale in the blender with half a banana or mango, and some almond, soy or cows milk and ice).

This smoothie  uses whole fruit, which I like for the added fiber, and avocado, which adds smooth richness without the extra sugar of a banana.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups kale, cleaned (leaves and stems)
  • ½ avocado
  • ½ orange, peeled
  • 1 cup water (start with less and see how thick you like it)
  • 3-4 ice cubes (optional)

Directions

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and serve.

Enjoy!
