Order a fall fruit share by September 4 to receive freshly picked apples—or a package equivalent in value of other fruit, based on availability—from Autumn Hills Orchard for six consecutive weeks this fall. Place your order in our online store.
For $60, each fall fruit share consists of a weekly 1/2 peck tote (approx. 4-5 lbs. depending the contents each week) of the freshest and highest quality fruit picked to order specifically for CSA members. Distribution of fruit shares begins September 10.
Share contents will vary over the season but are primarily apples, including antique and modern varieties. Other fruit may include Concord grapes, Italian plums, Bartlett pears and Bosc pears. Autumn Hills provides information about the varieties offered, along with tips for using the fruit, on their online CSA page.
Autumn Hills Orchard is located in historic Groton, Mass., about 35 miles northwest of Framingham. The farm produces over 25 varieties of apples, including both antique and modern varieties, as well as peaches, pears, plums, grapes and raspberries. For many years, Autumn Hills has enjoyed partnering with Stearns Farm and other local CSAs to provide weekly shares during September and October.
The orchard employs Integrated Pest Management techniques to grow high quality fruit for “pick your own” visitors, wholesale customers and CSA subscribers. The farm is open in September and October for “pick your own.” CSA customers who visit during that time will receive a special welcome and tour.
The deadline to buy a fall fruit share is September 4 so check the Stearns Farm website for more details about how to order. You must be a member to participate.
