Part of our mission at Stearns is to donate a portion of our annual harvest to food relief organizations in our community. In Middlesex county, over 100,000 people do not have consistent access to enough nutritionally adequate food for an active, healthy lifestyle.

We meet this part of our mission by donating excess produce to local food pantries and shelters. This way of donating helps to reduce waste at the farm, but the amount of produce donated each week isn’t consistent, and the donated produce doesn’t always include a lot of the more familiar vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots that you and your family know and love.

In recent years we’ve received limited grant funds to purchase a handful of shares for donation, and we’ve heard from our partners how much they appreciate having a reliable source of fresh produce for the families they serve. This year, we are asking you, our community, to invest in the hunger relief part of our mission. By raising money to donate 15 Classic Harvest shares, we will be able to guarantee that we can give a consistent amount each week and include a variety of vegetables that are familiar and popular with everyone.

Please consider donating to help us reach our goal. I can’t think of a better way to give back to our community.
