We are one week away from the beginning of our summer share season! Kerry and I are busy getting the farm ready to harvest and for pick ups to begin. Below are some important details for new and returning members to know as we welcome you all back to the farm.

Masks (for all visitors):
All staff and pavilion work-for-sharers who greet you during pick up are all vaccinated and excited to show off our beautiful smiles once again! When you come visit the farm to get your share, masks are optional for folks who are fully vaccinated. Members of our community who are not vaccinated are encouraged to continue wearing masks for their own safety and the safety of others.

BYO Bags and containers (for vegetable shares):
As many of you may know, prior to last year, we did not pre-bag produce, as it means extra labor and extra waste. This season, we bring the scales back so you can do your own bagging – so SAVE YOUR BAGS/CONTAINERS! We ask that all members bring their own large shopping bags as well as small produce bags or containers for things like cherry tomatoes, potatoes, beets, carrots, tomatillos, etc.

During the berry picking season, please bring your own pint-sized clam shell container or a container similar in size.

Donations: we are not accepting donations of bags and containers at this time since we have plenty left over from last season (and no room to store more!).

PYO flowers and herbs (for all shares):
Please bring your own scissors or clippers to harvest herbs and flowers. We will have a few pairs available to use, but it’s always helpful when folks bring their own in case they’re all in use. Also, we encourage sharers to bring a cup or jar for their flowers. We will still have water available so your flowers can make it home in the best shape possible.

**PYO Flower and Herb Share: you will receive a jar on your first day that you’re welcome to use each week when you come to pick**

Switching pick-up days:

As folks begin to travel again, you may realize that you will be away during your regular pick up day. You have several options on how to proceed:

  • Donate your share: You do not need to notify anyone that you are missing your pick up, we will automatically donate the produce.
  • Have a friend pick up: If possible, we encourage you to have a friend, neighbor, or family member come to get your share if you can’t make it. It’s a great way to pay it forward and share the farm with others!
  • Change pick up day: You are allowed 3 switches during the season. You can only switch within the same calendar week (meaning if you are a Friday pick up, you can’t push it to the following Tuesday and then pick up twice in one week). To change your pick up day, email me at farmer@stearnsfarmcsa.org by SUNDAY at 8PM of the week you want to change. It is very important that I know how many shares I am harvesting because we begin right at 7am on each Monday.

So excited to see you all again!

Until next time,
Ember
