2022 CSA VEGETABLE SHARES FOR CURRENT MEMBERS **Our sale is different this year so please read the following information to help answer any questions you might have.**
Operating a small-scale farm using organic methods will always be more expensive than large-scale farming using synthetic chemical fertilizers and non-organic herbicides and pesticides. Our approach to farming is better for the environment and better for our community, and the costs of operating this way have increased significantly over the past few years. The farm’s mission to provide organic produce while being stewards of the land and providing our employees with a living wage is more important than ever, as we face climate change and supply chain disruptions. But a farm is also a business, and it is crucial to keep operating in a way that is sustainable for the long term.
In order to accomplish our mission and goals, we are increasing the share price for all 2022 shares. The 2022 prices reflect increases in the costs of organic seed, soil, and fertilizer–the basic building blocks of farming. Shipping and field supply costs are also up, because of COVID, we’re paying more for the port-a-potty, and labor costs are increasing as the state reaches its long overdue minimum wage goal. In real terms, the new prices reflect an increase of $1-$4/week, depending on the share type–less than a cup of coffee. We are so grateful for your understanding and continued investment in local, sustainable farming.
As in past years, we will be offering an “early bird sale” to thank returning sharers for their support. The sale will have two phases and will run through October 31. During this time, only current sharers will be able to purchase shares, so be sure to reserve your share for the 2022 season now.
