While Ember, Kerry and the rest of the crew are working hard in the fields, there is a dedicated group of work for sharers making things run smoothly behind the scenes during the CSA season and beyond. I recently had the chance to chat with Alex Russo, Stearns Farm’s new webmaster, about his journey so far and what led him to become a CSA member.

Can you share with us a bit about your background?

I graduated from the New England Institute of Art with a BS in Audio Media & Technology. After graduating, I spent some time producing and performing music, throwing live events, and freelancing as an audio producer, as well as doing corporate AV at hotels throughout the Boston region. In 2020, when the live events industry shut down, I used the downtime to learn more about coding – something that I had always had an interest in! I was lucky to land a remote job as a Software Developer in August of 2020 at SC Laboratories and I’ve been immersed in the coding world ever since.

How do you like to spend time outside of work? And what brought you to Stearns?

In my free time, I still perform music with my band the Vinal Trio and attend concerts whenever possible. At the end of 2021, my wife and I moved to Framingham, got an adorable rescue puppy we named Katsu, and signed up for our first Stearns CSA! I’m glad to be able to use my skills to help out a local farm with a mission that I fully support and believe in.

Thank you Alex. Welcome to Stearns!
