As we look back at the wonderful history of Stearns, we often mark the passing of time by remembering the farm managers over the years. Since the founder of Stearns, Penelope Turton, retired in 1990, there have been many amazing women and men who have managed the land over the decades.
Kathy Huckins worked as farm manager from 1999-2011 and transformed the farm (which had 30 CSA members at the time) into the robust, modern farm that we know today. Not only did she cultivate and care for the vegetables in the fields, but she found many opportunities to share her knowledge and passion with the community at large, which she continues to do to this day.
In honor of Kathy and all her amazing contributions to Stearns, we are thrilled to dedicate the flower garden in her name on Sunday, September 15th from 2-4PM. All are welcome to come and meet with Kathy and to celebrate her. Light refreshments will be served.
