As spring opens a new door to the year, this time it closes another. After four wonderful full seasons as your newsletter editor, I am stepping down and handing over the editorial reins.

To say this opportunity changed my life would be a vast understatement. I have made some amazing friends, learned valuable lessons and most importantly, I was welcomed into a long-established and ever-evolving community. During a time when many are seeking connection and meaning and purpose, participating in a CSA can be one of the most rewarding ways to find all three. And we are fortunate to belong to one whose mission is so focused on responsible stewardship of its land, members, and the community at large.

One of the aspects I cherish most about my time as the newsletter editor is seeing the ripple effects of local efforts. With so many events happening in Framingham and beyond, it’s easy to find something to pique your interest. By simply showing up and participating, we meet like-minded people and realize our neighbors value and wish to protect the same things we care about: sustainable agriculture, lower consumption, civic engagement, and resilient communities.

I encourage all Stearns Farm members to get involved this season: whether it’s supporting the upcoming Earth Day Festival or seedling sale, connecting with the land during your work hours, attending farm events throughout the season, or simply spending a few more minutes walking around the farm during pickup. The property offers such beauty during each time of year, and with paths connecting to Callahan State Park next door, a great way to explore and stay active.

Starting with the next edition on May 4th, CSA member Melina List will be taking over as the next Stearns Farm newsletter editor and social media manager. Melina is a soon-to-be-graduate from Emerson College and I am excited to see their enthusiasm and creativity reflected and shared with us each week. They can be reached at news@stearnsfarmcsa.org. Welcome!
