Stearns Farm CSA

Hard to believe but it's the last week of the regular CSA season! Before we burrow indoors for the winter months, let's see what the last days of this harvest spell:

• See below for a list of what to expect in your share this week.

• Ember brings us the season's highlights from this most unprecedented year.

• Election Day is next week so remember to vote YES on Question 3.

• Forgot to send in your favorite recipe for our new cookbook? No worries, there's still time.

• We're ending the season with turnip fever and the only cure is...more turnip (and save those greens!).

A special shout out to ALL members who attended last weekend's End of Year Celebration and Garlic Planting. A big "Thank You" to Jack's Abby in Framingham for donating a pizza lunch for the garlic planters. Check out photos from both events on our homepage (also pictured is a necklace someone lost at the farm last Tuesday).

Thank you again for an extraordinary season and stay healthy, happy and warm!

A Season Like No Other

A Season Like No Other

Throughout the season, many people mentioned how the farm has been a bright spot in their lives this year. I couldn’t agree more. This year was trying in many ways, but the farm kept me going and gave me purpose. Growing reliable, organic food for my community is one of the main reasons why I started farming in the first place. Each season is challenging, demanding and unpredictable. And yet at the same time, each season is extremely rewarding, meaningful and beautiful. This year was no exception.

Share Your Tastes of The Season for Our Cookbook

The summer season may be ending, but you can still submit your recipes to our upcoming Stearns Farm cookbook. It's not too late to join fellow sharers Cindy Hebbard, Simon Cierniak, Daphne Blacker, Ronda Yeomans, and others who have contributed their soups, salads, mains, appetizers and more.

We'll be accepting submissions until the end of 2020. Tell us about your go-to ways to use your share each week, family favorites, and the ways you preserve the harvest. Perhaps you've been spending more time at home, cooking more and you've made new discoveries this season. We'd love to learn about them. Even "no-recipe" recipes are welcome!

Eat Your Share

There have been root vegetables aplenty in these last weeks of shares and that means not one but two types of turnips. Not sure how to enjoy these tasty taproots? See below for two appetizing options.

This recipe for Coriander Chicken Thighs with Miso-Glazed Root Vegetables combines a plethora of flavors to enhance all those sturdy, late-season offerings.

While the Turnips with Caramelized Onions and Toasted Lentils is a high-protein, vegan side dish that serves up wholesome tastiness in minutes.

We look forward to discovering your own favorite recipes - so share them here to be included in our upcoming Stearns Farm cookbook.
