Stearns Farm CSA

Hope everyone got to rest and recharge during the July 4th holiday weekend. Summer is sailing right along and we have plenty to be excited about:

• See below for a list of what to expect in your share this week.

• Blueberries are ripe for picking - and Ember reminds us of essential PYO procedures.

• Looking to unwind? Pull up a chair at our new Rock Painting Station during pickup.

• The Culinary Garden is brimming with flavors ready to savor and spice up your meals.

• Join us next Saturday and learn how to make your own herb-infused vinegar!

• We've got some comfort food side dishes to help us through these heat waves.

A final reminder that PYO Flower & Herb pickups start this week. Stay healthy, happy and hydrated and see you all next week!

PYO Crops for Summer & Back-to-School CSA Sharers

Our Pick Your Own crops are a special and exciting feature of the Stearns CSA share. They give members the chance to spend some time at the farm while appreciating the meditative task of harvesting. We want to make it possible for everyone to have access to these crops, but there are several things to consider when welcoming sharers into the gardens and berry patches. Here are a few things to take note of when you arrive to pick up.

We hope you are enjoying the culinary garden so far!  Please be mindful that herbs are only open if you see a yellow star next to the labeled sign. Southern-style collard greens are one of my absolute favorite barbecue side dishes. With peak grilling season underway, try out this easy recipe and add some Soul Food Collard Greens to the picnic table.

With just the right amount of crispiness, these Vegan Potato Latkes (Potato Pancakes) might rival my mom's recipe as my go-to for a quick, starchy and savory treat. I top mine with tzatziki and sauteed garlic scapes.
