Stearns Farm CSA

We welcome August with open arms and open hearts. We've got busy bees in the gardens, birds a-singing in the fields and plenty to partake under the pavilion:

• See below for a list of what to expect in your share this week.

• Just like drought, too much rain can spell trouble for the soil and crops.

• It's that time of year - see below for all the info about picking up your annual garlic.

• Penelope's Garden is brimming with fragrant and healing herbs to take home.

• The deadline to sign up for a 2021 Fruit Share is fast approaching!

• Whether pickling or making a creamy base, both of this week's recipes make cleaning out the fridge a snap.

The Stearns newsletter will be taking a break next week but you'll still receive an email next Monday with a list of what is in the week's share. Stay healthy, happy and safe and see you all in two weeks!

Drawbacks to Rain

Eat Your Share

This week, our recipes arrive courtesy of Nicci Meadow, one of our extraordinary volunteer photographers and a long-time supporter of Stearns. Enjoy!

Two fridge staples that tend to spoil before we know it are leafy greens and dairy products. Combine them to make Creamed Hearty Greens and enjoy alone or in a variety of dishes.

Fermented foods are essential to promoting a healthy gut so dig into the crisper and prepare some Quick-Pickled Vegetables. Ready to go in only a few hours and perfect as a side or snack.

For more simple, delicious recipes like these, check out the Stearns Farm CSA recipe archive and find a new favorite. Search by ingredient and see where it takes your taste buds.
