Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! We're welcoming the marathon, preparing for Halloween and keeping up with all the announcements from the farm:

Classic Harvest take 11, Farmer’s Choice take 8: Potatoes, carrots, bok choy, kale/collards choice, scallions/parsley/kohlrabi choice, hot peppers, peppers, winter squash, watermelon radishes, daikon radishes, radishes/salad turnips choice, escarole/radicchio choice, Tokyo bekana, stir fry mix, lettuce mix.

Although the crops listed on this page represent what the farmer anticipates will be available this week, the vegetables you receive may be different due to weather conditions and other factors that affect production. Remembering Ember's advice from last week's From the Field, I found this recipe for Daikon Radish Kimchi. This simple take on a Korean staple prolongs the shelf life one of the most flavorful and versatile fall veggies (fun fact: Daikon means 'big root' in Japanese).

I can't wait to give the Radicchio Salad with Sour Cream Ranch a spin. Creamy, tart, salty and sweet all at once, this salad is a great substitute for the regular Caesar while the dressing and toasted breadcrumbs ideally complement the chicory's bitter tones.
