Did you notice anything different during a recent visit to Stearns farm? Two new sheds have been raised just past our herb gardens. The structures have added much needed storage space while serving as handsome accents to our farm. Check out the bounty curing high above the ground!

Your donations made this possible! The sheds represent the most significant infrastructure upgrades to Stearns farm since the greenhouse was installed, and they were funded through the generosity of our members, past and present. It is with this in mind that we ask you to consider a gift for 2016.

Our seasoned sharers know that the end of our growing season marks the beginning of our annual appeal. Stearns Farm CSA is thriving, having sold the equivalent of 168 shares in 2015. We have a healthy community and bounty to match. However, the revenue generated from the share price only covers our operational budget on a yearly basis. In order to make capital improvements (like the sheds), we must raise additional funds.

The buildings represent the first phase in a series of planned improvements to Stearns Farm. The Board of Directors is working on a five-year plan to organize these upgrades, and launching a corresponding capital campaign to fund our efforts.

If last year’s theme was infrastructure, then this year’s is horse power! And so begins our new campaign. We have set a goal of raising $10,000-$15,000 for the purchase and maintenance of a used truck. This fund will double as money earmarked to revamp our fleet of tractors.  But, we need your help! And there are two ways to do so.

First, please give if you can. Click on the  “Donate” button on the right side of this page, or mail a check   to us (made out to Stearns Farm CSA) at 862 Edmands Road, Framingham, MA 01701. No gift is too small and all are appreciated. Many employers offer matching gifts programs, so please look into this easy way to double your gift to Stearns Farm.

Or, if you are willing to introduce the idea to your employer or another contact, we’d be happy to carry the ask from there. Please contact any of the board members with questions or ideas about new funding sources. We’d be happy to chat.

Stearns Farm recently completed our 25th season as a CSA. In that time, we have grown from 10 members to 168 and have touched many more lives through our community, mission, and existence. Please help us ensure that the next twenty-five years are as fruitful as the last.

Sincerely,

The Stearns Farm Board of Directors
