Summer Share

The summer share includes a wide variety of organically grown vegetables, berries, herbs, and flowers. One share feeds approximately two adults and one or two children.  Most of the produce is picked, washed and displayed in in our pickup tent.  Some of the crops are Pick Your Own, which means that you have the opportunity to get out in the fields and harvest your own food.  Pick your own crops are typically the most labor intensive and delicious ones: strawberries, peas, string beans, blueberries and raspberries!  Beginning in mid-July, your share includes a bouquet of flowers of your choice, from our gorgeous flower garden.

For 2016 a summer share costs $700, plus a $5 membership fee. Sharers are also required to contribute a minimum of 12 hours of field labor over the course of the growing season. Six of these hours must be completed by July 16. (These hours can be paid for if working in the fields isn’t feasible for you.) The full cost of the share plus the membership fee must be paid for before the pick-up season begins. For complete details on paying for your summer share click here.

A full share includes twenty weekly pickups beginning in early to mid-June and ending in late October (the exact start date is determined in late May).  Shares vary from 5 to 15 pounds per week, depending on the crops in season. You may also pick your own herbs, flowers, berries, and selected vegetables.

Pickup days are Tuesday 2 -7 PM and Friday 2-7 PM.  You choose your pickup day when you register and come to the farm on that day for the duration of the season.

Alternate-Week Shares (Half Shares)

Because regular shares are too large for some people, we offer the option of a smaller share that you pick up every other week. An alternate week share costs $380 plus a $5 membership fee and requires six hours of field labor. Three hours must be completed by July 16th. (These hours can be paid for if working in the fields isn’t feasible for you.) The full cost of the share plus the membership fee must be paid for before the pick-up season begins. Work-for-Shares

A limited number of work-for-shares are available. In return for making a commitment to work 4 hours/week from mid-April through early-November (30 weeks total), working sharers receive a generous share of the harvest. You must be physically fit for the demands of farm work. Contact Melanie Hardy farmer@stearnsfarmcsa.org for more information. There is a $100 registration fee to become a work-for-share. Work-for-shares must also join Stearns Farm and pay the $5 annual Membership fee.
